India has placed a ban on the import of rough diamonds from Cote d’Ivoire in compliance with the United Nations Security Council and other industry organizations. The UN, World Diamond Council and the Kimberley Process places bans on rough diamonds leaving that country after discovering that exported rough was funding weapons.
