Ukraine's Lobortas & Karpova jewelery house displayed a gold ring with 837 African and Yakutian diamonds in Kiev, claiming it is a new world record. The ring, owned by an unidentified Ukrainian businesswoman, is called "The Dance of an Angel". Its value has not been revealed, but similar rings from the collection fetched more than $50,000.
Lobortas & Karpova wants Ukraine to be a world force in expensive jewelery collections. Igor Lobortas, Head of the Lobortas & Karpova House said: "It is our objective to make Ukraine the third country in the world after France and Russia, because this is going to be a third largest collection after the Faberge Easter eggs collection which has 56 items and the Cartier collection of about 60 pieces."
The jewelery house has applied to the Guinness Book of World Records to register the record-breaking diamond ring.
