On Monday, a diamond engagement ring that had been lost for 17 years was returned to its owner, the Sydney Daily Telegraph reports. The owner, Nerida Lamphee lost the ring in 1993 when her purse disappeared one night.
Recently, a home in her hometown of Sydney was cleaned up by a government-enforced cleaning crew after neighbors complained about the hoarder who lived there. Andrew McMillan, a health surveyor, was assisting in the clean-up when he noticed an old purse. Inside, was Lamphee’s driver’s license and a beautiful, if dusty,
diamond engagement ring.
McMillan contacted Lamphee, who at first did not believe that her ring had been found. When she was finally reunited with her long-lost diamond ring, she cried. “I thought it was gone for good,” she said.
