Saturday July 7, 2007 will be one of the most popular wedding dates in history. Over 38,000 weddings are being reported that day on theknot.com, whereas a typical weekend in July has closer to 10,000 weddings. Some couples are taking the number seven even farther than the date, hosting seven bridesmaids and bridegrooms, seven course banquets and, of course, adding seven diamonds to the wedding band.
The number seven is being played up by companies as well as couples. In Las Vegas there will be over 3000 weddings on Saturday. The LaBella Wedding Chapel and Planet Hollywood both feature wedding specials that day for $777. The Little White Wedding Chapel offers a $77, seven-minute wedding accompanied by seven flowers for the bouquet. Famous nuptial sites like the Bellagio will be running multiple weddings, beginning in the wee hours of 07/07/07 and progressing right up to 11:30PM. The Flamingo is hosting 77 weddings at 7 locations and the Las Vegas Ritz-Carlton boasts a $7,707 package including seven hours of spa treatment, two nights in a seventh-floor room, and a shopping credit of $777 at Neiman-Marcus.
The Ritz-Carlton New York Central Park is offering a Lucky Number 7 Wedding Package for $77,777, proclaiming Saturday July 7, 2007 to be “the luckiest day in history.” It includes room for 77 guests, a cocktail hour with 7 canapes, a custom 7-tier wedding cake and even seven diamonds for the bride from Tiffany & Co, consisting of a 1.18 ct five-stone platinum shared-prong wedding band with F VVS diamonds and a pair of I VVS earrings. The company further offers a 7-night honeymoon at any of their hotels.
The popularity of dates like 05/05/05 and 06/06/06 was notable but 07/07/07 may prove to be the most popular wedding date for many years to come.
