Will you copy a setting I saw somewhere else?

We will not copy designer jewelry pieces as they are the creative property of the artist. If you are committed to having a designer piece not of our making we suggest you go ahead and purchase the original.  We can create a piece inspired by a style you have in mind, or a design of your own imagination.

Will you set a diamond I already have?

We prefer to work with our own diamonds. If we agree to work with an outside diamond it will need to be sent in along with lab report/certificate or independent appraisal. Our insurance policy covers our own diamonds during setting, but it is the responsibility of the client to provide insurance for any outside diamond. We assume no responsibility for damage.

What is the custom design process, start to finish?

Your custom jewelry creation begins with a vision. Once the project is accepted an exciting process of discussion, design and manufacture takes place.  There are eights steps in the process.

Step 1. Vision

What inspires you?  You can submit a drawing or photo as a starting point and we will go from there.

Step 2: Consultation

We discuss overall appearance and style, type of metal to be used, width & style of band, height & style of head, prong details, sizes & descriptions of diamonds & gemstones, ring size and other relevant details. If a matching band will be added later this is a good time to plan for it.

Step 3: Quote

You receive a detailed quote and estimated timeline. Most custom projects take 10-14 business days to complete. Complex work may take longer. In all cases our priority will be careful attention to detail and quality for a beautiful, sparkling creation that will last a lifetime.

Step 4: Approval & Deposit

We collect a $250 non-refundable deposit so that work can begin. A delay of deposit will delay the timeline. Once work begins any changes will necessitate an adjustment to the finish date.

Step 5: CAD Model

Our designer will use the latest software to create a CAD (computer assisted drawing) rendering of your design.

Step 6: Approval of CAD and then payment

Upon approval, complete payment will be expected and then the ring will be cast in metal. Please note that a delay of approval and payment will set-back the timeline. Minor modifications are possible at this stage but any changes will delay the finish date.  Significant alterations may also affect pricing. If you decide to abandon the project there is no charge beyond the $250 deposit. Once we receive your approval the piece is ready to be cast and no further alterations can be made.

Step 7: Creation

The CAD design is cut and cast and your vision becomes reality. Our metalsmiths and jewelers hand-tool and finish the piece, perform final polish & cleaning and deliver it to our production manager & designers for inspection.  All custom creations we produce become the intellectual property of Whiteflash.

Step 8: Delivery

You receive photos of your finished piece as a courtesy. Your custom creation is then shipped to you via FedEx priority overnight mail.

Each piece carries our lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.

There are no refunds on custom work.
