Whiteflash.com, an online diamond and jewelry boutique headquartered in Houston, was recently named a 2006 “Winner of Distinction” by the Houston Better Business Bureau Education Foundation. The ceremony, held at the InterContinental Hotel, downtown Houston, recognized businesses and non-profits in the Greater Houston area for their achievements and commitment to overall excellence and quality in the workplace.
“We’re in good company,” says Founder and CEO Debi Wexler about the many thriving businesses in Houston, and those being honored at the luncheon ceremony. Whiteflash.com was one of 75 finalists and one of six retail-based businesses to receive the honor. Better Business Bureau member companies eligible to receive the honor were required to maintain an ongoing and superior level of commitment to ethics, overall excellence, and quality in the workplace; a commitment not lacking at Whiteflash.com says Wexler. “We’re employee-driven,” she says. “We maintain an environment that is both encouraging on a professional and personal level.”
No stranger to start-ups and creating an employee-friendly and motivating atmosphere, Wexler built Microcomputer Power, another Houston-based company, from the ground up. Another Houston-based company, Wexler later sold Microcomputer Power to a division of General Electric, but not before rewarding each and every contributor with an a bonus check. “Behind every great company are great employees,” says Wexler, “and it’s important to show everyone how much their hard work and dedication is appreciated.”
Wexler quickly joined Whiteflash.com after the sale of Microcomputer Power – a company hailed earlier this year by Kiplinger’s Financial Magazine as “Lord of the Online Rings.”
Whiteflash.com is an internet company specializing in precision cut diamonds and custom design jewelry. The company, just shy of its 10-year anniversary. In fact, Whiteflash.com is one of the first jewelers to offer the coveted Hearts & Arrows diamond, and one of the first to do so exclusively online.
