0.4 Carat Diamonds

0.40 carat diamonds (or “forty pointers”) are those weighing a little bit under one half carat, and are therefore often referred to in the diamond trade as “light halfs”. Light halfs can range between 0.40ct and 0.49ct but the term is more commonly applied to diamonds of 0.45ct and above. Light halfs are sought after because they have the look of half carats, especially those that are cut to ideal proportions, and they cost significantly less that diamonds hitting the 0.50ct mark. They are popular for use in mid to lower priced engagement rings. They also make a very nice statement as diamond earring studs as well as being popular as side stones flanking larger diamonds in three stone rings.
