The name “Vera Wang” is synonymous with bridal elegance and beauty, as celebrities from Ivanka Trump to Avril Lavigne, from Chelsea Clinton to Khloe Kardashian have walked down the aisle in one of Wang’s signature designs. Now, the award-winning bridal fashion designer and CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year has turned her attention from the bride’s dress to her hands. Wang has recently announced that she will be teaming up with American diamond jewelry giant Zales to design a full line of diamond jewelry, branded Vera Wang LOVE. This new Vera Wang jewelry line will be offered in stores and online starting in October.
This is not the first time the Vera Wang collection has reached out to a mass-market audience. Vera Wang’s David’s Bridal collection flew off store shelves after it was released last year, and her Simply Vera womenswear collection for Kohl’s has earned her fans across the country and in every income bracket. Now, with her new line of Vera Wang diamond jewelry , Wang is trying to apply her sleek minimalism and subtle femininity to the bridal jewelry market as well.
The Vera Wang engagement rings and wedding rings that comprise the LOVE collection were designed, in fact, to coordinate with the ever-popular gowns at David’s Bridal. Vera Wang Group president Mario Grauso told Women’s Wear Daily, “Vera now wants to complete the story of the David’s bride,” by offering bridal jewelry with the same affordability and accessibility as her David’s Bridal wedding gowns. Now, any bride with access to a mall or the Internet can purchase her own Vera Wang engagement ring as easily as an A-list celebrity. Lifelong fans of the brand will be proud to add Vera Wang jewelry to their wedding day ensembles.
The 50-some engagement ring designs offered in the Vera Wang jewelry collection are a mix of traditional and modern designs, featuring everything from simple solitaire engagement rings to heavily embellished wedding ring sets . The rings are sold pre-set; that is, with the center stones already set in their settings, and start at $1,999 for engagement rings. Each ring is also set with a small blue sapphire, which is visible in some settings and hidden beneath the setting in others, that will serve as Wang’s signature, and, according to Zales CEO Theo Killion, “signify everlasting love.”
