America’s favorite pop princess is finally getting the happy ending she deserves. It was announced over the weekend that after months of speculation, singer Britney Spears is engaged to her former manager Jason Trawick. Trawick asked Spears to marry him on Thursday evening, at a romantic dinner celebrating his birthday, after which Spears sent out an excited tweet to all her fans, promising them an exciting announcement.
Britney Spears, who has seemingly recovered from a few years of personal and professional struggles with two top-selling albums and a half-dozen radio hits, has been dating Trawick since 2009, when he resigned as her manager in order to pursue a personal relationship with the singer.
The engagement ring that sealed the deal was revealed on Friday in Las Vegas, where the singer and her new fiancé are enjoying an extravagant weekend celebrating his birthday and their new engagement. The Neil-Lane designed ring features a round 3-carat stone in a pavé-set round setting set with 90 small diamonds. People magazine reports that Trawick had the setting custom-designed to resemble a small crown, saying that Spears was his “everyday princess.”
Celebrity relationship experts and friends of the bride alike applaud the latest announcement from the singer, who has dealt with severe personal struggles only to reemerge as one of America’s favorite pop artists in the few years since she has begun dating Trawick. This will the third marriage for Britney, who previously wed childhood friend Jason Alexander in a 2004 Las Vegas wedding that, was annulled within two days. Her second marriage, to rapper Kevin Federline, lasted two years and produced two children, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
No wedding date has been set yet, but the newly engaged couple spent the weekend celebrating the good news before flying home to Los Angeles together. Even Britney’s ex-husband Kevin Federline expressed his best wishes for the new couple.
