Sotheby's New York Jewelry Auction Brings $22 Million

Sotheby’s auction house held a sale of “Magnificent Jewels” in New York city on April 24 which returned $22,440,200 with the top four lots all selling for more than $1,000,000.
A 74.95 ct fancy intense yellow diamond, sold for $2,056,000 represented the top lot. The second was an 18.54 ct emerald which brought $1,888,000. A 16.98 ct D VVS1 emerald-cut diamond by VanCleef & Arpels sold for $1,552,000 as did a necklace signed Reza, Paris, with a 30 ct baguette collar suspending a 48.91 ct J VS2 pear-shaped drop.
