GIA, Carlsbad, Calif. – The Gemological Institute of America’s (GIA) New York Laboratory will offer “priority laboratory services” to Jewelers of America (JA) trade show attendees before, during and after the run of the upcoming trade show on July 29 to August 1, 2007 in New York.
According to Tom Moses, senior vice president – GIA Laboratory and Research, “With this GIA priority laboratory service, JA attendees coming to New York for a few days for a great trade show can submit their items of diamonds, pearls or colored stones to GIA for laboratory servicing, and then pick them up prior to leaving town.”
Showgoers can drop off stones at the nearby GIA New York Laboratory’s take-in windows and get their material back before the close of the show. For example, if a stone gets submitted to the GIA New York Laboratory on Thursday, it will be available for pickup by Tuesday night.
“We’ll run extended drop-off and pick-up hours at the New York Laboratory on Thursday, July 26 from 8:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. On Friday, the Laboratory will be open its regular hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Then we’ll extend the Laboratory’s regular Monday and Tuesday hours (July 30 and 31) from 8:00 a.m. till 6:30 p.m.”
If work gets submitted Monday or Tuesday, it will still be afforded priority service and will be shipped back to their owners by their preferred shipping method.
“We’re interested in improving our service to our customers, the industry and the public,” said Moses. “We thought this priority laboratory service would benefit many of our colleagues who are attending the JA show here in our own backyard.”
The Jewelers of America Show is being held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
