GIA, Carlsbad, Calif. - Since Jan. 19, the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) Museum has hosted the South Sea Pearl Consortium’s exhibit, “White Magic.” The exhibit will be on display at the Institute’s Carlsbad headquarters through May 15.
Sponsored by the Paspaley Pearling Company, the exhibit features South Sea cultured pearl jewelry by 16 international jewelry designers, including Henry Dunay, Ellagem, Fai Co, Lily Lam, Christian Tse, Stephen Webster, and David Yurman. For the exhibit, Paspaley provided its finest cultured South Sea pearls to each of the specially selected designers.

According to GIA Museum Director Elise Misiorowski, "White Magic" is a traveling exhibition that has been on display in cities throughout the world, including New York, Milan, London, and Hong Kong.
“We are thrilled to have this extraordinary collection here in Carlsbad,” said Misiorowski. “Because each piece was created specifically for 'White Magic,' we are able to offer the public a glimpse at a unique collection of stunning pearl jewelry that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.”
Known for their luster and size, South Sea cultured pearls are harvested from Pinctada maxima oysters found in an isolated region between Northern Australia and Burma.
