1.5 Carat Diamonds
1.50 carat diamonds are those that are a full one and a half carat in weight. In the diamond trade they are also known as “six grainers”- a reference to their weight equivalent in “grains”- (1 carat = 4 grains). As diamonds increase in size, they increase in rarity. Larger diamonds therefore cost more on a per carat basis than smaller ones. 1.50 carats is a magic mark in diamond weight where values take a significant jump. 1.50ct diamonds that are well cut with great light performance are highly desirable. Significantly bigger from a visual standpoint than one carat diamonds, they are far less costly than diamonds in the 2.00ct range.
