Grammy’s Jewelry Report : Who Rocked the Bling on Music’s Biggest Night?

Unlike the Oscars, the Golden Globes, or even the Emmys, the Grammys are the one awards show dedicated to the most over-the-top, extreme red carpet looks as modeled by all the hottest names in music. So rather than seeing the tame, restrained diamond jewelry looks we are likely to see at the Oscars in a few weeks, we were treated to the bold, the brash and the unapologetically beautiful. Let’s take a look at some of the best jewelry ensembles of the night.

Like the SAG Awards a few weeks ago, gold bangles ruled the red carpet, embracing the arms of celebrities of all ages and fashion temperaments. This being the Grammy’s, some stars, like Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, added gorgeous yellow gold cuffs to an outfit that was otherwise a fashion disaster, while others, like Rihanna, accented a stunning look with an equally stunning set of gold bracelets.

Necklaces also made a strong showing at the awards show, after having fallen out of favor for a few seasons. While the modest necklines and heavily embellished dresses of recent seasons have ruled out necklaces for many, some stars experimented with layering a statement necklace over the collarbone-skimming necklines of their dresses. Melanie Fiona rocked a bib necklace set with oversized black onyx set in yellow gold, while Alicia Keys won Statement Necklace of the Night easily with her armor-like yellow gold collar.

But Diamond Necklace of the Night has to be split two ways, between two singers with very different styles who happened to sport a similar necklace look on Grammy night. Sexy R&B star Rihanna wore a sparkling diamond pendant on a very long chain that mirrored the extreme deep V-neck of her Armani dress, while normally-demure Kelly Clarkson chose a similarly sternum-baring black dress by Pamella Roland and paired it with a teardrop-shaped diamond pendant on a similar long chain.

But without question, the night belonged to Adele. The 23-year-old British songstress (and winner of 6 major awards) exemplified all of this season’s hottest and most wearable trends in her red carpet look. Barely-tousled blond waves, out-to-there eyelashes and crimson lips—all the kinds of beauty trends that anyone can wear at home.
Then there was the sequined Armani dress, which was both appropriate for Adele’s turn in the spotlight and yet true to her naturally modest personal style. Finally, the incredibly talented young artist rocked a statement cocktail ring and a pair of heavily embellished diamond earrings supplied by no less than Harry Winston Jewels. The gems may have been worth millions, but the ear-hugging disc-shaped earrings are a style that anyone can and should try at home.
